Running a VPS snapshot restore

Roll back updates, restore corrupted databases, or recover accidental deletes from snapshot history.

3 min read · Updated June 11, 2026

  1. Go to the Backups tab in your Site Cockpit or the global backups dashboard.
  2. Browse the timeline list of valid restore-ready snapshots.
  3. Click 'Restore' next to the chosen timestamp snapshot.
  4. Select whether to restore files, database tables, or the entire stack.
  5. Verify completion status on your screen. Restoration usually takes 1-5 minutes.

Before performing a rollback, DockSpin automatically takes a temporary 'safety checkpoint' snapshot of your current state. If the restore fails or does not resolve your issues, you can undo the restoration and jump back to the safety checkpoint. To prevent data corruption, websites are placed in a brief read-only maintenance window while files are rewritten.
